I think it'll be a split hose under the inlet manifold (PCV system) I had a 1.8 Duratec with lots of problems the code-reader will never diagnose (cores burnt out of plug leads, burnt exhaust valve) but it never cut out or stalled. I got a 2.0 which had no issues other than cutting out at idle and wImRfVR.
